The third NIAA Annual Scientific Meeting is being held on Monday 21 May 2018 at the RCoA, and will include updates on NIAA activities and projects including the UK Perioperative Medicine Clinical Trials Network (UKPOMCTN) and the NIAA Health Services Research Centre (NIAA-HSRC), as well as the NIAA Research Award finalists. As 2018 is the 10th anniversary of the NIAA there will also be a celebration of its achievements as well as a look towards the future. There is a discount on the delegate fee for registered trainees. We encourage all with interests including health services research, QI, Clinical Trials and perioperative medicine to register, particularly if you are planning to attend the RCoA’s new flagship event Anaesthesia 2018 at the British Museum on 22-23 May. More information and booking is available on the ASM event page (http:bit.ly/NIAA-ASM).
The NIAA Research Award is open to all current active investigators of anaesthesia, perioperative medicine or pain research within the UK who have a body of research work – typically equivalent to two or more research papers on one subject or from a higher degree thesis (MD/PhD) – that covers a clear evidence-based research question. Shortlisted applicants will present their work at the NIAA Annual Scientific Meeting in May 2018 (see details below), which provides a great opportunity for trainees or newly qualified consultants to get peer review for their work, present to an audience, and take questions from a panel of senior researchers. The Award winner will be decided on the day of the ASM and there is a£500 first prize. The deadline for submissions to this year’s award has been extended to Monday 2nd April. More information and criteria are here: http://bit.ly/NIAA-Award
PQIP is holding a collaborative event which we would like to invite all the regional network leads to attend. There will be two identical events :
Entry to the collaborative events will be free. If you would like to attend or have any questions send an email to email@example.com.
The SNAP-2 team have managed to compile a list of all the collaborators who contributed to the study. They’ve tried to make sure this list is accurate, but inevitably there might be a hidden error contained within due to the large number (>2800) of collaborators involved.
Please do disseminate amongst your respective networks. The link to the list is: https://www.niaa-hsrc.org.uk/SNAP-2-Collaborators-List#pt
If anybody finds any errors, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org, and it will be rectified ASAP.
Once again, thank you all for your contributions to the study. A couple of manuscripts are in the process of being written and you will be updated as soon as they get submitted!
If anyone fancies a trip to sunny Devon, SWARM would be delighted to see you at their annual meeting..!
